Getting Started

VidPrep was originally created as a tool for sport coaches to develop and improve their players performance through video. It's now available for anyone to use - whether for sports, public speaking, safety, ergonomics, or anything else. The combination of video with comments and illustration becomes a powerful tool for teaching others.

Creating an account

The first step is to sign up for an account at VidPrep. Then email accounts@vidprep.com with some info about your application. Once approved, you'll receive an API key which gives you access to VidPrep's features like saving videos, comments, discussion threads and user drawings.

Once you have an account, you'll be able to upload and store videos on VidPrep as well as merge clips, save drawings and comments. You'll also be able to retrieve all these elements to create your own user interface for them. Create a custom experience and foster a supportive community for learning. VidPrep originally started as a site for team coaches to develop and improve their players' performance through video. Your API key is what allows you access to modify or delete your videos on your own page. If you would like additional security using a hashed signature, please let us know.

Warning! Keep your key secure as anyone with it can modify or delete your videos

API authentication

The VidPrep API uses REST and resource-oriented URLs to create, retrieve and control placement of videos, comments and drawings. Standard HTTP response codes are used to indicate API success or errors. Requests can be authenticated with an API key sent as a parameter named api_key, or as hashed signatures for more security. We use REST principles so all requests should be submitted as GET, PUT, POST, DELETE, etc.
